Overview

What are Amazon Chase Cards? The Amazon Chase Cards are 2 credit cards which include the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card or the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card (depending on if you are a Prime member or not). These are Amazon Cash-Back Reward credit cards issued by Chase Bank that can be used at any store or merchant. These cards reward cardholders for spending money anywhere, but can pay off handsomely for shopping at Amazon or WholeFoods, with up to 5% cashback at these places for Prime cardholders and 3% for non-Prime cardholders.

The difference between these credit cards and the other Amazon Store Cards, is that unlike the Amazon Store Card and Amazon Prime Store Card, they are not restricted to only purchasing items from Amazon.com or participating merchants.

If a credit card that rewards you for buying on Amazon is something you are interested in, this is the one we recommend.

Who Is The Amazon Chase Card Good For?

If you are not a Prime member but shop on Amazon frequently, the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card is a great option that offers cashback on all purchases including ones made at Amazon.

If you’re already a Prime member and you make a lot of big-ticket Amazon purchases throughout the year, then the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card is something you might consider.

If you are not currently a Prime member but would like the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card, then you will need to consider if the yearly Prime fees would be worth it for you. At the time of writing this, yearly Prime memberships are $119/yr. While Prime benefits are ample, if you don’t think you will take advantage of your Prime perks, then the price of the membership might not outweigh the benefits of the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card. There are a lot of reasons to consider a Prime membership on top of the ability to apply for an Amazon Prime Credit Card.

Which Amazon Card is Right for Me?

If you have good credit but are not a Prime member: Consider the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card

If you have good credit and are a Prime member: Consider the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card

If you have fair credit : Consider the Amazon Prime Store Card

If you have no credit: Consider the Amazon Prime Store Card Credit Builder

The Credit Builder Cards are great for people who have bad or no credit – these are secured credit cards that require you to place a refundable security deposit down. Your max limit will be the amount of your deposit. The credit card functions like a regular credit card and requires monthly/minimum payments.

Note: The Amazon Store Cards are limited in the value they can provide as they can only be used at Amazon.com or in physical Amazon store locations. These are beneficial as a credit building card or if you make a lot of large purchases on Amazon.

The Amazon Store Cards offer special financing but we would advise against using it unless you understand the complexity and details around how to properly repay your debt.*

*Be very careful using deferred payment options as late payments or missed interest payments can result in large and unexpected interest accruals.

Helpful Negative & Positive Customer Feedback

Helpful Negative Review

“The customer service is so bad from Chase that I am planning on closing this account because of the following experience.Β  I got the card put charges on it, paid the bill in full and 5 days later Chase still hasn’t cleared the payment!Β  Customer agent got Supervisor on the phone who just put me on hold forever.”

Helpful Positive Review

“This card has instantly become my favorite card. I have a Chase bank account so it makes the card extremely easy to manage. Β You get 3% cash back on Amazon purchases, and 1% cash back on all other purchases. I treat this card like a debit card and use it for everything that I would use my debit card for, then I turn around and make a payment and it comes immediately out of my checking account and back on my card. Super convenient! I’ve only been using the card for a week and I already have over 1000 points. Also you can redeem the points for gift cards, starting at 1000 points, or you can use it towards an amazon purchase. Love this card!Β ”

The Scoop

This is a great card for those who maintain good credit, pay their full balance each month on-time, and shop often on Amazon or at Whole Foods. This is an even better option if you do all of those things AND you are an Amazon Prime member.

If you often carry a balance over you will probably not be very happy with this decision, since the APR is high. If you are late with making payments, there is a late fee penalty – at the time of this post it was $38.00.

For the travel perks that accompany this card as well as the cashback savings, this is a really good option for those who shop on Amazon a lot and can manage to pay their monthly credit card bills in full.
